The Local to Ludlow campaign promotes food and drink produced within 30 miles of Ludlow. Our aim is to reduce the environmental cost of food production and to support the local food economy.
Welcome to Local to Ludlow
The Local to Ludlow Producer’s Market takes place from 9am to 2pm every 2nd and 4th Thursday throughout the year on Castle Square, the traditional marketplace in the centre of Ludlow. We are a real farmers’ market with fresh food and drink, art, craft and plants all produced within 30 miles of Ludlow. All stallholders are producers of the product they sell on the market.
The market has over forty stalls, including: fresh locally grown vegetables, fungi and fruit; fresh meat and charcuterie; eggs, cheese and dairy; chocolate, cakes and bread; condiments, preserves and honey; spirits, apple juice and cider; coffee and blended teas; food to go such as pies and scotch eggs, speciality cuisine including Asian and European, plant based foods; as well as hot food stalls.
To complement this we have artists and craftspeople, natural health and sustainable beeswax products, jewellery, ceramics, alpaca wool and products, hand-carved wooden products with flowers and plants in season.
What we do...
- We organise the Local to Ludlow Producers’ Market, a farmers' market selling a wide variety of locally produced food, drink and craft every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 9am to 2pm on Castle Square, Ludlow.
- We have been awarded Farmers Market Certification from the Farm Retail Association, as part of a scheme to bring consistency and clarity to what it means to be a real Farmers Market.
- Any trading surpluses are used to run educational activities in the local community.
- We promote local food and drink producers by authorising use of our logo.
- We sell compostable jute shopping bags and encourage less plastic packaging.
- We are supporters of Slow Food UK and Shropshire Good Food Partnership.
